Postdoctoral Position Scholarships for Hispanics at the Subunit Vaccines Group


This Scholarships for Hispanics project will allow us to build the necessary background parameters and requirements for systematic optimization routine early stage production of recombinant proteins via transient expression in tobacco plants, for South Africa and the broader market plant produced pharmaceuticals.

USA Scholarship for Hispanics of Arts and Sciences


This Scholarship for Hispanics program provides funds to each Fellow to cover half of the department to leave them and pay for weekly seminars, during which done to provide meals for each group of eight to 12 Fellows to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from other disciplines. IAH Fellowships support the work related to the arts, humanities and qualitative social sciences.
Scholarship for Hispanics Requirements: IAH Faculty Fellowships were awarded for proposals that are involved in several important ways for the arts, humanities and qualitative social sciences. Professor in-track positions at every level are encouraged to apply. Institutions looking for a mixture of rank and discipline for each class of Fellows. Scholarship for Hispanics Faculty members may apply for a Fellowship IAH at the beginning of their second year at UNC-Chapel Hill. The people who hold the promise of a long stay who are in at least their fourth year are also eligible if they will return to their departments next semester and Fellows may apply for a fellowship of IAH in the fifth year after their previous award. Joint proposals from two faculty members are also welcome.

Utrecht University Scholarships for Hispanics


The Scholarships for Hispanics research will lead to scientific papers in the fields of computational geometry and geographic information science, to be published in conference proceedings and journals. The collective research results will lead to a PhD thesis.

You will have office space at the Department of Information and Computing Sciences and will be supervised by Dr M. van Kreveld.

Requirements

  • Master in computer science, or mathematics with minor in CS.
  • Interest in GIScience applications and algorithms development.
  • Fluency in English writing.

Conditions of employment

You are offered a full-time position for 4 years years. Salary is in the range between € 2,042 and maximum € 2,612 per month.

The Scholarships for Hispanics salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme, a partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities. The research group will provide you with necessary support on all aspects of the project.

The University of Texas Scholarships for Hispanics


The Arts & Technology Scholarships for Hispanics is funded by the Metroplex Technology Business Council 2008 Tech
Titan Award and the Greater Texas Foundation. The award will be a total of $2000 for one year towards
tuition, or $1000 per Fall and Spring semester.
Requirements
• Students must be Arts & Technology or Emerging Media & Communication majors.
• Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduates. Applicants must or will be enrolled as full-time students (12 SCH).
• Scholarship recipients must enroll in at least one course in Arts & Technology or Emerging Media & Communication each semester.
• Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA to qualify for the award and to continue to receive the award.
• If a student drops a course and/or earns less than the required GPA, s/he will be placed on probation the following semester and the Arts & Technology Scholarship committee will review her/his case.
• If graduating in December, students who apply during their junior year will receive one-half of the award (for the fall semester of their senior year).

Scholarship Description:This project aims at introducing doctoral students to independent research work in the field of classical/ancient Mediterranean studies sensu largo, conducted under supervision of senior faculty members representing different research expertise and educational traditions. During first three years of their program students will be offered a broad range of post-graduate level classes in Liverpool and Wroclaw with the assumption that study load for each individual will be decided case by case by their supervisors working in conjunction with the project coordinator. The fourth year is devoted exclusively to writing a dissertation which is a major publishable-quality research paper. All students, however, will have to prove their ability to read Greek texts by sitting a Greek exam prior to opening the doctoral procedure. This normally should happen no later than by the end of the fourth semester. Student are also expected to pass an exam of a modern language other than English or their native tongue. Normally student’s supervisor determine what language they are supposed to select. Prospective students should note that all post-doctoral education in this program as well as dissertations are in English.

This project proposes eight major research themes and within them some thirty-four possible dissertation topics, as shown in the chart below with a tentative division of topics among supervisors/ academic advisors.

Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Laboratory of Ambient and Wearable Systems at the University of Alabama, USA

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available at Laboratory of Ambient and Wearable Systems at the University of Alabama. The laboratory is engaged in several research projects covering monitoring of human behaviors in natural environment and biofeedback. The research will focus on developing signal processing and pattern recognition methodologies for biomedical signal analysis. The postdoc will also be involved in various aspects of wearable sensor design, development of software for data collection and user interaction, development of algorithms for matching self-reported/observed and sensor data, validation of developed methods in human studies.

The ideal candidate will be experienced with signal processing of sensor signals collected from human subjects (for example, Accelerometry/ECG/EMG, etc) and practically familiar with application of machine learning and computational intelligence methods for classification, regression analysis and optimization. Matlab, Labview and C/C+ (or Java) proficiency is desired. The candidate should have good oral and written communication skills, be capable of independent work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, publish results in academic journals and participate in grant proposal preparation. Applicants should have (or about to finish) a Ph.D. degree in Electrical, Computer or Biomedical Engineering or a related field. The initial appointment is for a period of two years.

Sports scholarships are not only available to athletes from their respective colleges

Sports scholarships are not only available to athletes from their respective colleges. A number of professional organizations and private groups offer generous awards to student athletes looking for some help to meet their college costs. This week’s Scholarship of the Week targets student bowlers already in college who are able to maintain good grades while competing in the sport on the amateur level.

The Billy Welu Scholarship from the Professional Bowler Association awards student bowlers with $1,000 scholarships. Applicants must not only be decent bowlers, but good students, as well, and meet GPA requirements associated with the award. Welu, for whom the award is named, was a charter member and Hall of Famer in the PBA who was a familiar voice in the sport as an analyst during Pro Bowlers Tour telecasts. If you’re a college student who competes in a different sport, though, make sure you check out some of our examples of sports scholarships and look beyond your college for award funding, as there are hundreds of awards out there that target student athletes.

To be eligible, candidates must be amateur bowlers who are currently in college (preceding the application deadline) and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
